Rubric for Historical STEM Figure Project

This rubric will be used to assess your work on the Historical STEM Figure Project. It evaluates the research quality, content creation, STEM content, and educational application of your project.

Research Quality Thorough research with diverse sources; all information is accurate and relevant to the figure’s contributions. Adequate research with mostly accurate information; some minor gaps in relevance or depth. Limited research; some inaccuracies or irrelevant information present. Minimal research; significant inaccuracies and irrelevant content.
Content Creation Highly creative and engaging format that effectively communicates the figure’s significance; excellent use of visuals/audio. Good format that communicates the figure’s significance; some creativity but may lack engagement. Basic format that meets requirements but lacks creativity or depth in presentation. Poorly executed format that fails to engage; does not meet assignment requirements.
STEM Content Comprehensive coverage of the individual’s STEM contributions; clear explanation of scientific/technological concepts; strong historical context provided. Good coverage of STEM contributions; adequate explanation of concepts; some historical context provided. Basic coverage of STEM contributions; limited explanation of concepts; minimal historical context. Insufficient coverage of STEM contributions; unclear or missing explanations; lack of historical context.
Educational Application It is clear how the content can be effectively used with elementary students; activities are age-appropriate and engaging. Offers some good examples of content application for elementary students; activities are mostly age-appropriate. Provides basic examples of content use; some activities may not be suitable for elementary level. Few or no examples of how to use content with elementary students; activities are not age-appropriate.

Scoring Guide

  • Exemplary (4): Demonstrates exceptional understanding and execution of the criteria.
  • Good (3): Shows solid understanding and execution with minor areas for improvement.
  • Acceptable (2): Meets basic expectations but has significant areas for improvement.
  • Needs Improvement (1): Falls short of expectations in most areas.
